1. Our commitment
The welfare of every child comes first. Everyone who coaches, judges or volunteers with MSDA shares responsibility for keeping children safe from harm.
2. Who this applies to
This policy applies to our coaches, staff, judges, contractors and volunteers, in online classes and at in-person events.
3. Safe people
- Every coach is certified in Child Safeguarding before teaching
- People working directly with children are carefully selected and undergo appropriate background checks
- Everyone receives a briefing on this policy and our code of conduct
4. Online classes
- Classes use passcodes and waiting rooms, so only enrolled students can join
- Coaches do not contact students privately; all communication goes through parents or guardians
- Recordings are made only for coaching and judging, and handled under our Privacy Policy
5. In-person events
- Events are supervised, with clear arrival and collection arrangements
- Parents and guardians remain responsible for their children outside event areas
- Photography is limited to official photographers, and parents can opt out of photos
6. Raising a concern
If you are worried about a child’s safety at any MSDA activity, contact our Safeguarding Lead, [NAME], at hello@speechanddebate.my. If a child is in immediate danger, call 999. You can also contact Talian Kasih on 15999.
7. How we respond
Every concern is taken seriously, recorded confidentially and, where needed, referred to the relevant authorities. Anyone who breaches this policy may be removed from our activities.
8. Review
We review this policy every year, or sooner if the law or our activities change.
